On July 12th, we will be celebrating Malala Day, a day dedicated to promoting access to education for all children around the world, especially girls who face barriers to education. As a company that values education and gender equality, we want to take this opportunity to celebrate Malala Day in the workplace.

Malala Yousafzai's bravery and advocacy for girls' education has inspired millions of people around the world. We believe that we can also make a difference in promoting access to education for all by taking simple steps in the workplace.

We invite you to participate in our Malala Day initiatives, which include:

  • As an organization, we will be donating to the Malala Fund – a charity that facilitates education for women and children around the world. We encourage all employees to contribute what you can and make a difference in the lives of those who face barriers to education.
  • If you’d like to donate to a charity of your choosing, we recommend that you research the charity on Charity Navigator to ensure your donations are making the biggest impact.
  • Additionally, we will be facilitating mentorship opportunities for girls and women in our community. We encourage employees to volunteer as mentors and provide guidance and support for those who are pursuing their education and looking to advance their careers.

We hope you will share Malala's story and other stories of girls who have overcome obstacles to access education. We believe that by coming together to celebrate Malala Day, we can make a positive impact on the lives of girls and women around the world.

How to celebrate Malala Day in the work place

Malala Day is celebrated annually on July 12th to honor the birthday of Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist who advocates for girls' education. At age 17, Malala was the youngest recipient ever of the Nobel Peace Prize. The day is dedicated to promoting access to education for all children around the world, especially girls who face barriers to education in countries, such as South Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Liberia.

Observing Malala Day in the workplace is a crucial step towards promoting the importance of education for all and advocating for gender equality. Here are some ways that you can observe Malala Day in the workplace:

  1. Education and Awareness: Educate your colleagues about the importance of education for all, and the barriers that girls and women face in accessing education. You can share Malala's story and other stories of girls who have overcome obstacles to access education.
  2. Fundraising: Donate to organizations that support girls' education around the world. You can organize a fundraiser or a charity event to raise money for these organizations. It’s important to use reliable sources like Charity Navigator to ensure your donations are making the biggest impact.
  3. Mentorship: Provide mentorship opportunities for girls and women in your community. You can organize a mentorship program that pairs girls with female employees in your workplace.
  4. Advocacy: Advocate for policies and initiatives that promote access to education for all, especially girls who face barriers. You can write letters to your elected officials or engage in advocacy campaigns that support education for all.
  5. Equality in the Workplace: Promote gender equality in the workplace by providing equal opportunities for men and women, and by addressing any gender-based discrimination or bias.
