Here’s how we’re observing Good Friday and Easter Monday in the office.
Copy Text

Hi everyone,

We just wanted to remind you that our offices based in locations that celebrate this holiday will be closed for Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Employees who will be OOO, please remember to set your out-of-office messages and enjoy your holiday.

For those employees in our global offices that will remain open, we will have some fun activities to join in. Be sure to check out the #EasterObservance Slack channel to participate in games (and win prizes!) and drop into the break room for cookies, tea, and fresh fruit.

Let us broaden our knowledge and appreciation of each other's diverse cultures. Easter, also known as Resurrection Day, is a significant Christian holiday that is celebrated annually on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the Spring Equinox, typically between March 22 and April 25.

Although Easter has a Christian origin, many people incorporate symbols and traditions from pagan and Jewish customs such as eggs and flowers, celebrating new life as spring begins.

We wish everyone who observes this holiday in their own way a Happy Easter!

Thank you,

People Team

How to celebrate Good Friday and Easter Monday at work

Easter is a holiday celebrated world-wide by both people who practice the Christian religion and non-religious employees. Good Friday and Easter Monday are two important days associated with Easter in the UK, and many businesses close their doors to observe these days.

However, for international offices that may not be out of office during this time, there are still ways to observe these holidays.

Here are a few tips for observing Good Friday and Easter Monday in the workplace:

  1. Be respectful of those who celebrate: If you have colleagues who celebrate these holidays, be mindful of their traditions and customs. You can also ask if there's anything you can do to support them while they are OOO.
  2. Consider flexible working arrangements: If possible, consider offering flexible working arrangements or floating holidays. This can allow those who observe the holidays to take time off or adjust their schedules as needed.
  3. Hold a team event: Consider holding a voluntary team celebration. This could be a lunch or afternoon tea, or a team-building activity.
  4. Acknowledge the holidays: This could be through a simple email to the team or a message on the office notice board. You can make the days fun for everyone by arranging activities that celebrate with Easter and spring-themed games and prizes.
      • Spring Trivia in Slack
      • Egg hunt in the office
      • Egg decorating contest or flower crafts to decorate
      • Bring cookies and snacks to share

Prizes can include gift cards, game tickets, and fun company branded products like hats, coolers, shirts, and sports gear, and more!

By taking these steps, you can support those who celebrate Good Friday and Easter Monday. This can help create a more inclusive and supportive workplace for all employees.
