In observance of Easter, offices will be closed
Copy Text

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to send out a reminder that offices will be closed today in observance of Easter.

Let’s embrace this opportunity to learn more about and appreciate one another’s rich cultures. For those who don’t know, Easter is a joyous Christian holiday, often referred to as Resurrection Day. It is celebrated annually on the first Sunday after the first full moon, on or after the Spring Equinox, between March 22nd and April 25th.

It’s customary for people who celebrate Easter to attend mass or church services to take Holy Communion together and spend reflective time with family. Despite its tradition as a Christian holiday, many people also observe Easter with symbols and practices originating from pagan and Jewish traditions.

Thank you all for contributing to and celebrating our diverse team and culture!

Thank you,

Heads-up about Easter

Quick primer for all managers that Easter is coming up and to be respectful of all religious belief at this time.

How to observe Easter in the workplace

The history of Easter Celebration is traditionally celebrated as a religious observation. Easter commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which in the Christian religion is recognized on Easter Sunday. The timing of the holiday aligns with the pagan celebration of the coming of spring so it is also celebrated as a time of rebirth and new beginnings for many people outside the Christian faith.

Your team is made up of diverse people with unique backgrounds and beliefs. Many people across your team may celebrate Easter in their own way. If you want to observe the Easter holiday at work, one way you can do so is by organizing an Easter egg hunt. You can hide eggs around the office that employees can find throughout the day containing prizes such as individually wrapped treats or perhaps tickets employees can redeem for an extra 20 minutes on their lunch or some free time to take a walk.

You can also have an egg decorating contest. There are many cultures all over the world that decorate elaborate eggs in celebration of new life in the spring. Another option is to have a spring party. You can decorate the office with colorful decorations and serve snacks and drinks. Whatever you do, make sure to have employees weigh in to make the celebration inclusive, work-appropriate, and fun for everyone!
