Unmask the Fun: Celebrating Mardi Gras at Work!

Hi everyone,

Today, we celebrate Mardi Gras, a vibrant holiday that originated in medieval Europe and is now celebrated worldwide. It's a day of feasting and merriment before the start of Lent. Did you know that Mardi Gras is also known as "Fat Tuesday"? This is because it's the last day to indulge in rich, fatty foods before the fasting period of Lent begins.

To bring some of this festive spirit into our workplace, we encourage everyone to wear purple, green, and gold, the traditional colors of Mardi Gras. Share your festive attire in our team chat or during video meetings to spread the joy.

Additionally, we will be hosting a virtual "King Cake" tasting. We encourage everyone to bake or buy a King Cake, a traditional Mardi Gras dessert, and share your experience with the team. If you find the hidden baby in your cake, you'll be crowned the "King" or "Queen" of Mardi Gras.

Let's laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll) and enjoy the day!

Thank you,

People Team

Hey everyone,

Happy Mardi Gras! 🎉 Today, we're celebrating this vibrant holiday, which is also known as Fat Tuesday. It's the day before Ash Wednesday and is associated with indulgence before the start of Lent. Fun fact: Did you know that the first Mardi Gras parade took place in New Orleans in 1837? 🎭

To bring some of that festive spirit to our workplace, we're encouraging everyone to wear purple, green, and gold, the traditional Mardi Gras colors. Don't worry, no need to go bead-crazy, a simple accessory or clothing item will do.

For our remote team members, we're hosting a virtual Mardi Gras trivia game during lunch. Brush up on your Mardi Gras knowledge and join us for some fun and friendly competition. 🏆

Let's laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll) and enjoy the day!

How to celebrate Mardi Gras at work

Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is a carnival celebration that marks the day before the Christian season of Lent begins. It is celebrated annually, 47 days before Easter, typically in February or March. The day is known for its festive parades, colorful costumes, and indulgence in rich foods.

Recognizing and celebrating diverse holidays like Mardi Gras fosters an inclusive work environment. It provides an opportunity for employees to learn about different cultures and traditions, promoting mutual respect and understanding. Moreover, it enhances employee engagement by breaking the monotony of work and encouraging social interaction.

To celebrate Mardi Gras at work, consider the following:

  • Organize a themed potluck where employees can bring in traditional Mardi Gras foods.
  • Encourage employees to dress in Mardi Gras colors (purple, green, and gold).
  • Host a mini parade or a mask-making contest for a fun team-building activity.
